UNDERSTANDING LIFESTYLE PORTRAITS
In this day and age there's so many ways to describe photography genres. Photojournalism, documentary, portraiture, the list goes on - but one that really appeals to me is "lifestyle". In creating my own photography brand I realized I wanted to shoot fashion and I wanted to shoot people and milestones but needed a word to express it concisely. Enter "Lifestyle".
By definition, lifestyle photography is a type of photography that aims to capture portraits of people in situations or real life events/milestones in an artistic manner and the art of the everyday. That's when I realized, I want to celebrate the "art of the everyday". I want the photos to feel timeless, effortless and beautiful indefinitely regardless of the occasion.
Describing oneself as a lifestyle photographer can be misleading but when you break it down to your client and tell them - just bring yourselves, let's capture the art of the everyday, the art of this moment, they'll get it.
